Solar Thermal
Solar thermal that just works.
Flat plates, evacuated tubes, pre heat….. solar thermal is without doubt one of the most cost effective ways to reduce CO2 in a building with high hot water use. Arranging it so it actually works though, is a different matter.
The solar panels on the roof are the most visible part but really only 10% of the story and is a good example of why working with Blezards will save you time and money….our solar thermal systems incorporate best of breed components from at least 4 key manufacturers….it’s rare that the panel manufacturer can provide all these components.
We supply systems that answer the crucial “so what happens now?” questions once you’ve decided that solar thermal is right for you:
- how many m2 do I need?
- how do i deal with periods of non occupation?
- Exactly how do I fix the panels to the roof?
- What size vessel do I need?
- Where does the secondary return go?
- How do i deal with legionella?
- Do i need to integrate with the BMS? If so, how?
Recent successes include:
- Faced with having to install a large array on two roofs we helped a consultant reduce costs by changing the specified panel manufacturer and making better use of the space available. By locating the solar thermal array on one roof rather than two we helped saved the mechanical contractor and main contractor significant costs whilst still maintaining the required output to meet CO2 targets.
